Blippy's Response To Credit Card Data Breach, Pt.2
Resolutions and future plans. After spending most of the day last Friday on trying to understand how the credit card information made its way to Google, the company immediately contacted Google asking it to remove the URL that led to the data breach. The following morning, Blippy discovered an additional credit card was published on the web. An additional 20,000 pages were removed from the Google system. It is believed that the quick response by both Blippy and Google has successfully removed any future vulnerability and risk to user credit card data. Despite the company's confidence that sensitive user data is no longer accessible, Blippy experts contacted eight individuals whose information might be vulnerable to exposure.
The company also examined any gaps in its complete system paying close attention to procedure relating to the deletion of user credit card accounts. All users that may have been affected have been personally notified and offered a sincere apology. Blippy will remain in contact with the affected credit cardholders to help them rectify any situation that may arise from the data breach. Plans for the future will include building a foundation of trust with the company's users. Kumar reached out to the company's users in asking them to submit any measures that they would like the company to address and promised they would personally respond to each request. Blippy assured its users that security will remain a high priority.
Future plans include hiring a Chief Security Officer and security staff whose sole responsibility will be dedicated to credit card and information security. Additionally, Blippy will solicit 3rd party security audits. The company will continue investing in resources that will aggressively filter out sensitive information. Plans also include control of caching information in search engines. Lastly, Blippy will create an informational center that will inform users how the company is protecting personal and sensitive information. Communication can be addressed to Ashvin Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO of Blippy, ashvin@blippy.com
