Have Plastic, Make Bail
If you end up behind bars in Chemung County, NY, rest assured that making bail may be among the least of your concerns – if you have good credit!
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office made minor credit card history by announcing that, as of this fall, it would accept credit card payments for bail. They will provide a toll-free number for inmates to make secure credit card bail payments, hopefully getting minor offenders back out quicker, and keeping the jail population to a manageable level.
A representative for the Chemung County Sheriff's Office noted that those posting bail on their own account via credit cards would be charged a fee for the convenience. Those friends and loved ones posting on someone else's behalf will not be charged.
