  The newest marketing scheme dreamed up by American Express is pretty wacky – a virtual Ellen DeGeneres that you can customize with your own video message to e-mail to family and friends. Spokeswoman DeGeneres has shilled for AmEx in other highly popular promotions. Now, with a quick visit to the AmEx website, web surfers can type a message for the Ellen avatar to speak, or even record their own voices.

  
  Playing off of DeGeneres' professed love for animals, the video messages pair the comedian with various cute and cuddly companions in a variety of scenarios.

  
  Once you have created your custom "Ellen" video message, you can e-mail it to your buddies, or even link it to a MySpace!
