Reducing Your Exposure to ID Theft (Part 3 of 3)

The last batch of tips on how to curtail ID theft.

1.) Deal only with websites you know and trust.
2.) If an ATM looks strange to you, trust your gut and don't use it. If the equipment is unfamiliar-looking, it's best to stay away.
3.) Invest in a good shredder, and shred away! Be sure to destroy all important mail.
4.) Install a decent firewall and virus-protecting program on your PC(s) to protect you from spyware and hackers.
5.) Keep an eye on your credit card at all times. It may sound paranoid, but don't let a waiter or shop attendant disappear with your card for too long out of eyesight. Crooks can access handheld scanners that can swipe your card number in the blink of an eye.
