New Comerica Debit Cards
One Illinois financial institution is now offering travel rewards to its debit card holders, thanks to a deal with Northwest Airlines and other travel partners. Comerica Bank, based in Detroit, is touting its "Comerica WorldPerks Check Card" for consumers and businesses with a frequent-flyer program to rival most major credit card companies'.
The cards offer two options for consumers racking up points. The "Standard" reward level is available with a $20 annual fee, and reaps one travel mile per $2 spent. The "Enhanced" level costs $55 annually to participate, and earns one mile per dollar for quicker redemption. Business cards are only available at the "Enhanced" level. Currently, cardholders receive 1,000 "Bonus Miles" for opening a new card account. Redemption of the "WorldPerks" miles is offered through Northwest, and select other partner carriers. Furthermore, Comerica claims that it plans to further enhance benefits for debit cardholders in the new year.
