Site Allows For Gift Card Swap
At plasticjungle.com, it's all gift cards, all the time. The simple, but brilliant premise of the web site is to allow consumers to trade, donate or sell unwanted gift cards, rather than let them languish in a drawer. Not only are unused gift cards dust collectors, but some may diminish in value due to inactivity charges.
After paying a flat fee of $3.99 per gift card listed, sellers can pick which gift card they want to trade theirs for. Plastic Jungle features an instant-search database that quickly lets you know if they have that particular card "in stock." If so, the trade goes through immediately. If not, the site holds on to the request, and automatically sweeps the database twice daily for three months. If a trade isn't to your liking, you can sell your card for instant cash – usually 65-75% of the card's value. The cards sell on the site for a smidgen less than they would in stores – a $75 gift card to Victoria's Secret was available for $70 at the time of the last visit. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a free pair of panties!
Plastic Jungle also gives consumers the option to donate cards to charity.
