  Pay Taxes For Free With MC

  Until this past year, only a few states offered the convenience for consumers of being able to pay their income taxes by credit card. The downside to this perk was the cost involved, generally around 2.5% of the tax payment. It took years of lobbying by consumer interest groups to get the IRS to even bend to allowing online payments; the idea of making the arduous ordeal fast, easy, and free seemed hopeless.

  Through a partnership with tax paperwork giants H&R Block, MasterCard now offers totally free tax payment on one of its branded debit cards to consumers purchasing H&R Block tax preparation software. Additionally, it offers a full rebate on the cost of credit card payment for those paying with a MC credit card. Those not wishing to buy the software can pay a special promo fee of 1.99% when using a MasterCard product. And, the best part? Anyone in the U.S. can take advantage. Hopefully, this will relieve some of the stress of paying taxes during a typically hectic time of the year.
