News: Healthcare is Responsible for CC Crunch.
In these days where everything else is falling upon us, it's important to remember some very serious problems that have been around for a long time now. Credit cards have been a means of survival for millions of Americans for the last few years. When there's no money and people's lives are at stake, they must make some tough decisions. About the only choice left to these people is turning to credit cards. What use is a good credit card rating when you're dead?
Every year about 20,000 Americans will die for lack of health insurance/care. A very sad note for a developed country and of those, found only here in the US. This tragedy has been largely ignored by prevailing Republicans and their candidates with their ‘individual responsibility' agenda, buy may finally get serious attention from the Democrats. It only makes common sense to realize that the 20,000 figure would be higher, perhaps much higher, were it not for credit cards. Leave us not forget that health insurance/care debt is the number one cause for personal bankruptcy in this country and has been for some time now. ‘Good Samaritan' health credit card lenders have been quick to respond to this crisis by mailing out an abundance of offers to help these people.
With medical care costs through the roof, a single bad family illness of auto injury will wipe out most Americans financially, even if they have health insurance. About the only place they have to turn is to run up their credit card debt to the hilt, knowing full well that they cannot repay the debt. Again, this has been going on for years now, while the Republicans seem to be oblivious to the seriousness of having either no health insurance (45.7 million Americans) of, even worse, having inadequate health insurance (27 million Americans).
