  • News:  Woman Found Dead; Victim of CC Theft

Kansas City, Kansas Police are investigating the death of woman and theft of her credit card. Angela Hook was found frozen to death in her vehicle as it was parked in the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in the Kansas City area. The Merriam police authorities aren't sure how the vehicle got there or who was driving as Ms. Hook's body was in the back seat. Family members said the last time they saw Ms. Hook was when she left to go shopping on December 5th. The body was discovered three weeks after her disappearance. Two days after the victim's disappearance, on December 7th, police say two individuals used Ms Hook's credit card. Police have arrested Jeffrey A. Bendure and Lisa I Smith in connection to the case; the two individuals who allegedly stole the credit card.

It is not yet known what the credit card victim's cause of death is or how long Ms. Hook had been dead. Also, there is no evidence that indicates how long her vehicle was parked in the hospital parking lot or if the two credit card thieves had anything to do with her death. An autopsy conducted last week did not reveal any signs of trauma; however, blood and tissue samples have been sent out to the laboratory in hopes of giving some insight into Ms Hook's death. The authorities expect it will be six to eight weeks before they learn of the test results.

The Johnson County Police have retained Bendure and Smith in the county jail on $100,000 bond. Both have been charged with identity fraud and criminal use of a credit card. Meanwhile, police continue to search for another man, Aresteen “Butch” Young, Jr. for questioning in connection with the case. Young is also wanted by Kansas City, Kansas police on charges related to a narcotics violation.
