  • Withering Heights of Credit Card Debt.

    With so many Americans becoming mired in credit card debt these days, a person could write a series about. In fact, let’s do just that. To start with, we might want to understand just how we got here in the first place. Of, course, problems with credit card debt are nothing new and many of the problems (or bad habits) of old have simply never gone away and continue to plague our population. These would be things like:

     o Living beyond our means;
     o Miscalculating our ability to keep up with payments or even;
     o Just being irresponsible from the get-go with credit cards.

    To be sure, we will always have these problems to some extent. But through hard-lessons learned, many of us are finally starting to shape up in these areas. Truth-be-told, if all credit cards were suddenly taken away (even if just for those laden in debt) our woes would be much worse than they already are. Without the liquidity offered by credit cards, problems would quickly become much more extreme. A much higher percentage of would be literally out on the streets living out of garbage cans (as so many were forced to do during the Great Depression.

    So, bash the virtue of credit cards as you will but, consider what life would be like with zero money and no way to borrow anything. The buffer of credit cards affords us time to learn and to change our ways. Sure, we’ll have to pay the price. But it will be over time and we won’t be instantly crushed. The pain of cause and effect will educate us and force us to learn but to, still, have one more chance to recover.

    For the pathway to escape (or at least relief), you are encouraged to continue in greater depth to choose from the conventional methods available to you. The associated series of articles which cover the options and alternatives that we can afford can be found at Credit Card Debt: The Options. You are well-advised to take them seriously and to choose wisely.
