First Capital Payments in Rochester, Minnesota have launched a new debit and credit card payment processing application for cell phone users. John Betlem Heating and Cooling, Inc. will be testing the new technology called Magnesafe m20 for First Capital. The new technology is a small compact slider debit and credit card processor that reads the card data quickly and safely. An indicator light flashes to notify the user that the data has been properly retrieved. The new device operates off of the cell phone battery. In circumstances where the cell phone does not have access to the internet, the debit and credit card information is securely stored and is accessible for retrievable once the user has internet access. At that time, the data is retrieved, decrypted and processed through an online terminal.
In a statement, Kathy Betlem, Vice President and General Manager of John Betlem Heating and Cooling Inc. said although the company is in the early stages of the cell phone testing of the Magnesafe m20 debit and credit card processing application, customer response has been very positive. She said that the customers feel a sense of relief knowing that their debit and credit card information is secure and not laying around on a piece of paper on an employee's desk. The accounts receivables department loves the new technology as well and says it reduces paperwork, reduces errors, and saves processing time.
