  • News:  Swipely Opens To The Public

Do you enjoy sharing your personal information with strangers? How about sharing your credit card purchases with others? Many Americans have joined popular social networks such as facebook and twitter;; however, few are involved with a new social network called "Swipely" that allows members to share their credit card purchases with others. Swipely which was introduced a number of months ago and has been in a test mode ever since. The company is ready to go to the next level and has opened the site to the public. So, if you enjoy sharing all your personal credit card purchases, you can now join Swipely.

Swipely who advertises to turn purchases into conversation, has received a great deal of criticism in saying that the site leaves individuals vulnerable to identity and card theft. The site enables users to link their credit card account to the site which in turn will post every transaction the cardholder does. When the cardholder's account posts a transaction, a message is sent to any of the users followers. Unlike the Blippy site, the Swipely site doesn't list the actual dollar amount of the transaction. The Blippy site has had its share of trouble when a credit card breach in April occurred after the information was pulled during a Google search.

Swipely launched the site to the public by introducing badges which are determined by debit and credit card swipes. Badges are rewarded with such freebies as coffee, books, and movies. Despite the sites criticism, founder and CEO Angus Davis believes his site, the main competitor of Blippy, will be challenged with convincing individuals that his site is safe and fun. To help consumers become comfortable with the site's concept, cardholders can test the site without entering their card numbers and by importing email receipts instead. Swipely is looking to the future as they expect to team up with retailers to offer special rewards and purchasing benefits.
