News: Credit Card Trail Tail
It's kind of like DNA. A few years back, one would never see any link between justice and a DNA trail. Today, it's only beginning to dawn on us that a credit card trail can provide the same type of evidence as DNA when it comes to assigning crime. This past year, we've been inundated with scandals of embezzlement in high places thought to be above reproach. With the "W" years so committed to squelch government regulation, the watchdogs have been cleverly put to sleep. The crimes would have been perfect (undetected) were it not for the tell-tail trails of credit cards. The big question is if the American voter is intelligent enough to make use of these credit card forensics.
Such is certainly the case in light of the ever-growing ugly head of political corruption in Tallahassee over the last few months. Florida is now being dubbed by the rest of the nation as " Flori-duh" because our voters seem blind to the obvious. The latest (and, perhaps, most important) involves the very crucial US Senatorial seat representing Florida. Any third-grader knows something's very wrong when one person gets in charge and makes decisions against 10 others who don't agree with the way they'll be affected. Who can we trust? Look for evidence. Credit cards leave an undeniable trail. Mr. Rubio can say it was "only a mistake". We can all say, however, that a crook's biggest mistake is getting caught. Credit cards provide the evidence but, in the end, voter common sense (or the lack of) will dictate the fate of justice.
Will we call for further inquiry or will we just shoot the messenger? Public servants have certain legal duties of legitimacy that must be held to the highest standards if there is to be any hope for the rest of us. We should be calling for greater fiscal transparency especially from those whose platform is fiscal responsibility. To check hypocrisy, a person should be measured by the standards they are selling us. Let's get the credit card trails of our leaders out in the open so we can decide who is worthy to lead us.
