IBM has taken a front row seat in the fight against debit and credit card fraud. The company recently announced the launch of new software called the InfoSphere Guardium 8 that aims at reducing debit and credit card information along with other personal information. The new program enables companies to monitor systems usage and alerts management to suspicious activity. The company created the software out an increasing need across the financial and other industries in the fight against debit and credit card fraud and the compromise of other sensitive information. Statistics indicate that data breaches can cost anywhere from $100 to $200 per compromised card. The liabilities can run into the billions when one considers that millions of cards are breached annually.
IBM says the new system will increase the company's IT security compliance policies and aid those companies facing requirements to build more secure computer systems. New software by IBM will give companies the security and privacy capabilities that will enable them to safeguard debit and credit card information and other sensitive information. The InfoSphere Guardium 8 will help customers meet compliance mandates through the delivery of a stronger debit and credit card information governance controls while simplifying management of the system. As an added benefit, the new system will reduce costs.
New features in InfoSphere Guardium include fraud protection for SAP systems for client data, debit and credit card information, and personal information. The system will also provide the added protection of SharePoint files which contains sensitive corporate financial information and product development data. Mainframe real time monitoring and auditing control are included and the system has improved compliance and auditing processes included. The IBM Guardium security platform has numerous other benefits to meet the increasing needs of increase security. It has already been installed in more than 500 data centers worldwide, including 4 of the top 6 U.S. lenders.
