NEWS: FL Man Hoarded Stolen Credit Cards, IDs

Marlon Murphy, of Oakland Park, FL, was found in a Extended Stay of America hotel room with a slew of stolen credit cards, driver's licenses, and checks, as well as assorted drug paraphernalia. The Broward County Sheriff's office intercepted Murphy entering his room, after the Extended Stay of America rental office called police to alert them that the resident of that room had failed to pay their bill. Police found the stolen goods, which were linked to burglaries in the area, and belonged to 24 distinct individuals, all women. Murphy denied knowing anything about the stolen goods. The women claim that their property was looted from their vehicles at locations like a convenience store, a bank branch, a cemetery, and a friend's house. All claim that fraudulent accounts have been opened in their names by identity thieves using the stolen items.

Currently, Murphy faces 56 counts of possession of another person's identification, although a BSO official stated that the number could rise to over 90 charges. He is believed to be linked to a Miami group of burglars and thieves dubbed "Felony Lane."
