  • NEWS: NY Woman Went on Fraud Spree

The news is full of accounts of crooks that steal credit cards from hapless victims and go on spending binges, but every now and then, one really takes the cake. For example, take a thief who is ballsy enough to be carrying 70 stolen credit cards – yes, 70. Such an (alleged) thief, Kareese Lindsay, 29, of Long Island, New York did just that – and accumulated some $50,000 in fraudulent purchases using her stash.

Not a single one of the slew of plastic that Nassau County Police Department Crimes Against Property Squad recovered from Lindsay's home had her name on it. Furthermore, the cards were issued with mismatched Social Security numbers. A U.S. Postal Inspector launched an inquiry after Lindsay made multiple credit card inquiries over the internet, then had all the cards sent to a post office box.

Lindsay accumulated cards from five different issuers, three of which were Capital One, Bank of America, and Citibank. Police did not issue statements as to what Lindsay bought with the cards, or how long she has been using them. Lindsay was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and fraud, and held pending arraignment.
