NEWS: MA Waitress Stole Cards
Closely following the news of an
underground credit card information theft scam
among restaurant waiters in New York’s Chinatown
comes the reports of a Braintree, Massachusetts
waitress who stole at least three credit cards
from her customers. Stephanie Fox, 21, of nearby
Randolph, was working at Italian restaurant
Bertucci’s when she was served with an arrest
warrant on suspicion of having purposely filched
customers’ cards in order to buy Boston Red Sox
baseball game tickets, among other items.
At the time she was taken into custody, Fox was
said to be holding the three cards in question,
as well as four Red Sox game tickets, an
undisclosed amount of concert tickets, as well
as gift cards that had been bought with the
cards. Local police say that they picked out Fox
as a likely suspect after having discovered that
she was working during all the shifts when the
victims were able to identify that their cards
had gone missing. The managers of that
particular Bertucci’s location identified Fox on
surveillance camera from a department store, as
well as a pharmacy, where she was making
purchases using the cards. One of the three
victims reports that Fox had charged $1,400
worth of Ticketmaster purchased to their missing
card, as well as purchases at CVS and
Abercrombie & Fitch. Other victims allege that
she used the stolen card to shop at stores in
and around Braintree. The now-former waitress is
staring down charges of forgery, uttering,
larceny and receiving stolen property
