NEWS: S.A. Man Faked Plastic
An unnamed forty-year-old man was
apprehended in Johannesburg, South Africa, for
manufacturing fake credit cards last week.
Western Cape police say that they planned a
sting on the man’s home and place of business
after suspecting him of the illegal activities
for quite some time. Captain Randall Stoffells
released a statement that the man was nabbed in
Kuilsriver, near Cape Town, in the midst of a
search and seizure operation by police and local
officials.
Cape Town, or Kaapstad, in Afrikaans - is the
city with the third highest population in South
Africa, forming part of the metropolitan
municipality of the City of Cape Town. It is the
provincial capital of the Western Cape, as well
as the legislative capital of South Africa,
where the National Parliament and many
government offices are located. South Africa’s
credit card industry is still growing, but it’s
clear that the plague of more credit
card-advanced societies – identity theft – has
already taken hold!
Stoffels claims that detectives took the man
into custody on suspicion of fraud, and the
manufacturing of fraudulent credit cards with
the intent to use them. During the authorities’
investigation, searches unearthed a plethora of
fake credit cards (cloned from actual stolen
consumer credit card numbers), a slew of
fraudulent identification documents, and a few
vehicles that may or may not have been stolen.
The gentleman in question is expected to appear
in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday
for arraignment.
