NEWS: NatWest Changes Miles

British airline NatWest will be changing its reward scheme, according to a recent press release. Some two million NatWest-branded credit cardholder will no longer be able to accumulate miles, as of June 1, 2008. But not to fret, NatWest flyers – the company will still be offering miles. Nor will those holding onto their miles lose them. NatWest is pairing with online travel agents ebookers and easyJet to offer two new rewards cards as part of a newly-inked partnership with Lloyds TSB.

NatWest stated that its new scheme will be solely available to its current credit cardholders set up with existing Airmiles accounts. Most current members will face no charge for switching over their accounts; some, however, will be assessed £3 a month for membership. The new scheme will replace Airmiles, which has been in existence since 1988. Reps from the airline say that the time has come to give customers more flexibility. Lloyds and Airmiles will launch a new credit card tie-in with American Express and MasterCard.
